The
Virgin
My first couple of times on the field
with Ben as tactics coach, the orcs did well, but at the time
with 2nd edition rules, the Orks always seemed destined to lose.
Don't get me wrong, they did well and held their own,but not half
as well as I would have hoped. When third edition was released my
luck started to change. Gradually the Orks began to come out on
top with slight point advantages. Off the record, my enemies just
never had enough turns (or weapons) to eliminate sizeable numbers
of the throwaway orks. Which worked out well.
The
Orks:
The ork army on foot is useless indeed. Unless you are facing
"the bugs"-- where you want as much distance as
possible between you and them-- you need bikes, trucks, and more
trucks. Although I feel that the table is really overcrowded with
all the vehicles, they are a necessity. Plans for the future
include updating all my crappy cookie-cutter miniatures to
unique, individual orks. And generally making them more pleasing
to the eye to look at.
In the spirit of Brian's list, here are my rules to live by for the Orks:
1. Never fight Space Marines
2. Never allow a gretchin to see the end of a battle. If there
are any left on the table you did something extremely wrong!
3. Remember -Kommandos weaponry sucks... their fighting sucks...
and well besides the Kaptain, Kommandos generally suck.
4. As much as they supposedly like war, with my luck of the dice,
Orks like running off the table...OFTEN!
5. Always taunt your opponent when those gretchen blunderbuss'
take out a Genestealer. (even though it took 30 shots to do it)
6. Never plan on the orks hitting what they aim at -ever!
7. Mad Docs and Mekboyz are worth their weight in gold.
8. Stormboyz are fun to paint, but are as useful as tits on a
bull.
9. Gretchin are prairie dogs. The Runtherd is the bravest person
on the battlefield.
10. Never fight Space Marines.
In
The Works
Crimson Fist army. Gotta love them with
their badass paint scheme and plain out coolness. Not as gay as
Ultramarines which is always a bonus.
