TURN Two - Eldar: The dire avengers were the first to land, rapidly deploying from their ship. The striking scorpions’ serpent landed next, with the farseer touching each on the shoulder in turn as they disembarked from the rear ramp. Meanwhile, the banshees’ hover tank drifted lifelessly in the air. When enough troops were on the ground, the farseer exited his craft without fear of being sniped with a lucky shot.
The dire avengers fired their shuriken catapults as they disembarked, catching one sister in the throat who collapsed in a spasmodic spray, while another fell to one knee attempting to stop the flood of red from her arm. As the scorpions moved a safe distance from their craft, it lifted off and discorporated another sister with an arc of light from its bow. The scorpions marched through the cloud of ash left from her body and opened fire with more shuriken pistols. Expertly, they dispatched two more sisters who couldn’t avoid the deadly whistling projectiles.
In the distance, five shapes emerged from the treeline...a squad of dark reapers who leveled their launchers and loosed a salvo of missiles into the front line of the battle sisters. The explosions rocked their defensive line as bodies tumbled and reeled, leaving three unrecognizably dead in their midst.
The vyper locked onto two targets in the pinned mass of sisters and cut them down in succession, caking the rest of their squad with blood. The wraithlord followed suit, unleashing the energy of its starcannon on a single sister who had no chance of survival.
Seventeen sisters already lay dead as the Eldar launched their assault without a single casualty on their side. The scorpions dove into the flank of the sisters guarding the side of the cemetery, hacking four down with mandiblasters and monoblades. By himself, the exarch pulverized two with blows from his powerfist, leaving naught but vile patches of color on the ancient wall. The two surviving sisters turned and ran, despite the damning remarks screamed by the preachers nearby. The scorpions decided not to give chase and instead moved closer to the cemetery.
TURN Two - Sisters of Battle: It was a glorious sight to behold as the seraphim arrived back on the field, having heard the explosions and screams. They were the only mobile squad there, as all others were holed up to receive a charge or pinned down in terror.
With full faith in the Emperor, they rocketed forward, hammering the dire avengers from the rear with bolt pistol slugs. Under divine guidance, six explosive shells found their mark and cut the dire avengers’ number severely. The bodies barely had time to fall as the seraphim landed within melee range.
The sisters huddled within the cemetery walls were so inspired that they stood at the edge and rapid fired into the scorpions below. Again, guidance from above directed their shots, as four of the scorpions were riddled with sacred bullets.
One of the surviving frontal units of sisters dashed to this flank, and the lead sister triggered her flamer, bathing the remaining scorpions in purgative napalm fires. Four more scorpions collapsed in agony as the sisters chanted the most hateful of hymns. The exarch stepped back only to be caught in the packet stream of a meltagun that consumed him, utterly, with a loud hiss.
As the wraithlord moved closer, it came within range of the multimelta retributors. Despite the power of their hits, only one managed to singe the wraithbone automaton.
The seraphim proceeded to assault the side of the dire avengers’ serpent, but the armor was just too thick and they had left their meltabombs behind in the rush to get to the battle.
