TURN One - Eldar: The wave serpent gunner climbed down from his firing post, and gave a quick bow to the farseer who sat deep in meditation despite the shuddering and jerkiness of the hover tank’s flight pattern.
"The Canoness is taking the Ranger back for more interrogation, I presume. With her, go their best fighters: the Dominions and her Seraphim. Shall we attack?."
Farseer Cymoril cracked a wry smile and whispered, "I believe the order has already been made," as he peered out a side window. As the gunner looked out, he gasped with excitement as a deafening cheer was broadcast over his headset. The Avatar had joined them this day! The revered being wasted no time in salute and instead lumbered towards the Imperial outpost, which was apparently oblivious to the impending siege.
The three wave serpents and the vyper soared over the treetops that encircled the ancient cemetery, strafing the site with bursts of starcannon and bright lance fire as the Sororitas scrambled into practiced firing formation.
One sister didn’t have the chance to scream as a bright bolt from the lead wave serpent dissipated her body above the waist, sliced a ten foot rut in the earth behind, and exploded a gravestone at the end of the path. As granite shrapnel flew in every direction, a second radiant beam instantly killed another sister as she knelt fumbling with a bolter clip. Her shadow remained burnt into the grass behind her smoking remains.
Starcannon shots followed from the guardians and Dinin the wraithlord, but by then most of the sisters had suitably entrenched themselves. However, one last starcannon blast from the vyper hit one sister with such impact that she hurtled backwards through her squad, landing at their feet as greasy blackness pillared up from where her abdomen used to be.
TURN One - Sisters of Battle: Bolter fire rang out in immediate response as the sisters could do nothing else without command to lead them. The shots harmlessly bounced off the alien hulls of the wave serpents. A meltagunner rushed forward to get in close, trembling to the point of being a liability to herself. She managed to hit the banshee’s serpent with a superheated swath despite its speed of approach, and the craft faltered but did not crash—even with one entire side stripped away.
The retributors with heavy bolters opened up on the vyper, which deftly jinked out of the way of their shots.
Preachers screamed maledictions at the enemy and oaths to the Emperor as the disarrayed force rearranged itself to receive an assault. Flamers were moved into position, and the multimelta retributors sought refuge in the graveyard as their current firing lane was useless being that the Eldar attacked on the far flank.
Without command or mobile support, it was only a matter of time...
