Sisters of Battle vs Biel-Tan Swordwind Eldar
Take and Hold
The Canoness dragged the interrogated neophyte Sister by a fistful of hair, like an
unloved doll. The pain of it was almost merciful compared to what was inflicted upon her in the agonizing search for
thoughts of conspiracy.
She halted in the graveyard, before the assembled Order and let the young Sister fall face-first to the ground where she remained motionless. "Bring the alien forth." she commanded, and a bound Eldar Ranger, face bloodied and vacant, was escorted before her.
The Celestian Superior took the Canoness aside. "Most Revered, the alien confessed to know the ancient secret beneath the graves. They detected the radiation and estimated that because of the amount--that it must be an active silo."
The captive Ranger began muttering something as he wavered, barely able to remain
standing after the grueling ordeal. The Canoness motioned for a translation. Sister Dialogus stepped forth.
She furrowed her brow. "It is a prayer to his pagan deity...to curse us all with...impregnation that...from the insides...devours us...slowly."
The Canoness smirked. "Lift her to her knees."
"Sister Jordan, for attempting to protect the alien from due process, you have exiled your soul from the arms of the Emperor. May your shameful demise be received as a supplication before Him, that He may have mercy on your fate. May your last vision be that of the alien, so that in your eternal torment you may temper your suffering with righteous hatred."
A single shot was fired, and Sister Jordan's body shuddered and heaved. She rocked backwards and fell upon the graveled earth. Her prayer beads were torn from her clasped hands and scattered unstrung upon the ground. Every
Ecclesiarchical emblem was removed. The Ranger stared emotionlessly at the corpse and the patch of crimson forming a ruddy halo on the ground about her head...and then he began to laugh and sputter in hysteria.
Sister Dialogus translated, "Animals...you are and now you...shall be punished...as them."

Jeremy Baldridge (sultan of the celibate harem): I can't say that I have an optimistic outlook for this mission. For one, I'm still learning how to properly apply this army while Jeff is quite practiced with his. Two, Jeff's Swordwind look outfitted to be opening power armor like so many cans of Eldar suds on a hot craftworld day. Three, my deployment position is highly vulnerable and my best units are in reserve. But, like the Sisters, I gotta have faith. Sure, I could set up hiding behind the back wall of the graveyard because it's more tactically sane, but with that level of cowardice--er cunning, rather...I may as well be playing my Dark Eldar. No, we must go forth and sacrifice our lives and our better judgment for the Emperor! |

Jeff Chua (ready to tithe some starcannons): Wow, that's a lot of power armor to kill! Luckily, this Eldar force excels (usually) at taking out Toughness 4 power armored baddies. Hopefully adding three times as many Toughness 3 power armored nuns won't be too much of a change. I've played against Sisters of Battle a couple times using their new rules, and I know not to underestimate them with all of their fancy-schmancy faith abilities. I'm pretty sure Jeremy will have a large bank of faith to withdraw from during the course of this game, so I'll need to keep an eye out for strange turnings of the tide throughout the game and do my best to keep the chanting to a low murmur. |

"Where have those lazy Batreps guys been???": We get that a question a lot. We're well aware that in 2002, a mere three batreps were published on this site, and only only one of them was "in house". 2002 was a transitory year for most of us in our personal lives, and we're all working adults. We could go on and on about how little time we have and how this site doesn't earn us a dime (actually Ben foots the ISP bill so you can have content for free) so there's no incentive to keep going, but I doubt anyone wants to hear it. You just want more batreps, right?
Well, to accomplish that we need reader submissions to keep this site going. We can't express this enough. Probably once or twice a month we get someone asking if they can submit something...but then we never hear from them again. That being said, the only solution seems to be to start posting batreps that are much more streamlined so there isn't as much work to be done (usually by one guy only). The sacrifice will be the great gory fiction that lies past page one in favor of a simpler report. The benefit will be more updates and presumably more pictures to replace the missing text.
In the past, we've gotten much praise for the developed story content, and I'm sure many of you will be distraught to see it become an afterthought. The bottom line is that the huge amount of effort that goes into developing great batreps doesn't put paint on the minis or less importantly, bread on the table.
Jeremy
Now, on with the show...
Sisters of Battle Deployment:

Retributors line up at the rear flanks, each screened by a flamer squad of Sisters. The melta Sisters lurk inside the cemetary gates, ready to incinerate any alien that dares to enter.

The backbone of the Order keeps vigil among the headstones, but can they stand their ground against the attackers until help arrives?
Maybe...
Biel-Tan Swordwind Deployment:
None! They march and soar onto the battlefield during Turn One, intent on capturing the ancient weapon of mass destruction.
