TURN TWO- Imperial Guard: The Guardsmen around the Exterminator knowingly covered their ears as the barrel of the foreboding tank launched a round that impacted beside the lone Rhino. The force of the blast splintered and felled a tree onto the roof of the APC. As the Rhino throttled its engines to escape from being pinned, the storm bolter was torn off the mounting. The line of Guardsmen cheered, even though the armored transport was largely unscathed. Blue 3 was inspired, and the unit leveled their arms on the BA Scouts that materialized from the waving vegetation. Beams of light vectored across the field, igniting the grasses and leaves in a wide swath, and charred the flesh of three of the lighter-armored Scouts. They stumbled and fell out of view as their surviving comrades actually turned to pay notice to the "inferior" weaponry of the Guard.

The Battle Tank sounded its cannon, shaking the bluff and raining gravel all around the soldiers at its base.  The shell caught another Scout in its incinerating explosion, leaving nothing but a charred ceramite breastplate.  Meanwhile, some of the Imperial Guard reserves appeared in the form of a Thunderer, whose pilot spied an unscathed unit of Scouts.  Rather than stop to risk a shot, the rumbling machine attempted to smash them into jelly under its weight.  Taken aback by this recklessness, the Scouts turned to retreat behind the safety of their own lines.

The Thunderer tank shocks the Scout unit, forcing them to fall back. The roar of the Battle Cannon cannot even be silenced by power armor.

TURN TWO- Blood Angels: The Blood Angel reserves began to make an appearance as well, as a Land Speeder fired its fore jets to slow the craft as it entered hostile territory.  The Dreadnought, Valorium, stomped with pneumatic pistons into the fight, just in time to witness the shuddering recoil of the Leman Russ.  Both new entrants to the training-mission-gone-awry found themselves in great positions for anti-tank measures.

Another late entrance was made by a Rhino teeming with Tactical Marines.  When the pilot saw the amount of firepower stretched before him, his palm struck the smoke launcher with great impetus.  Obfuscated, the tank dozed on towards the hill.

The Black Rage was achieved by the Land Speeder pilot and the cadaverous Marine encased in the Dreadnought's hulk.  Engines flared and exhaust stacks plumed as both warriors rushed towards the enemy.  The Scouts, still falling back from the advance of the Thunderer, continued to do so because they were still too close to the enemy machine.

The Black Rage encourages a lethal shot for the Speeder. Valorium's Lascannons make short work of the huge siege tank.

Because of the proximity gained through its reckless approach, the Land Speeder scored a devastating hit on the Thunderer, its multi-melta turning one entire side of the tank into slag and boiling the crew occupants into steam.  Valorium rushed the Leman Russ Battle Tank, and cut jaggedly through the hull of the tank with its linked Lascannons.  As two of the great Imperial Guard tanks were now destroyed, a surge of panic spread through the line of Guard troopers.  The Commissar drew her pistol...

A meltagun hit ruins the gun aboard the Exterminator. The Blood Angels fail to make it into assault due to the treacherous slope.

The second Rhino squad advanced up to the Exterminator, and a firing hatch was thrown open as the rest of the squad bailed out.  A hastily-aimed meltagun shot liquefied the tank's twin-linked autocannon, while the other Rhino squad disembarked and failed to assault the guardsmen--underestimating the steep incline of the bluff.

The Blood Angels move to flank the IG nested upon the hill.
