TURN TWO- Imperial Guard: At last, the rest of the Imperial force was able to suit up and emerge from the bunker tunnels with barely enough charge in their lasguns. The two squads that appeared saw the carnage spread out before them, and thought nothing other than to huddle in and around the installation. For what light the Emperor shed on this battle, it was not enough.
The barrel of an autocannon was rested on the edge of the observation deck, and mercilessly discharged into the advancing bugs. Meanwhile, around the base of the bunker, the command squad let by Captain Nakir shored up against the seething Lictor. Nakir unholstered his plasma pistol and fired a round into the creature. His men mimicked without a thought, as three meltaguns incinerated the Lictor. The giant carapace toppled over, boiling juices oozing from every one of its orifices. Things were not looking good however, as more and more bugs closed in.
TURN TWO- Tyranids: The Tyranid surge for the bunker continued unabated. The Genestealers went around looking for a way to the roof while the Tyrant charged head-on with its brood. Claws scratched at the windblasted surface of the installation, as the creatures yearned for the morsels on top.
Several Tyranid Warriors made their appearance, but their powerful bioweaponry was not needed after the first shot from a barbed strangler turned the command HQ into a broken pile of meat, sinew, and bone. One of the Warriors turned to reckon its kin, as if to say, "Did I do that?"
The Termagants fired their fleshborers, and two of the recruits on the observation deck fell over the side of the railing to be vivisected by the Genestealers. Only loaders, worthless loaders...
In a final act of mindless aggression the Carnifex destroyed the Chimera that apparently was challenging its size and stature. As it tore through the heavy plates of steel to get at the succulent flesh inside, it impaled itself on a jagged conduit. As it greedily gobbled the two pilots, the whole craft exploded around the satiated insect, wounding it again--but not phasing it!
It now became clear that the Tyrant was the unit with the explosives as it charged the bunker - but was there anything more the IG could do about it before the bunker exploded?
