TURN TWO- Imperials: The Iron Chimera moved forward slowly, harmlessly exploding an errant spore mine under its tracks, simultaneously opening fire on the Tyranid warriors with its multilaser, killing one. The Hellhound blasted the Biovores with flames, wounding one, while the Penal Squad held their ground on her flank and opened fire on the warriors. Their massed firepower killed two more warriors; with the Praetorian lieutenant behind them shouting orders, his lascannon crew claimed the last one.

deviant marine protocol... justly warranted the inquisitor moves out to delay the tyranids

keep running men, we can make it!

the flame gunner preps the cannon

The Whirlwind sent its payload arcing into the west once again, this time landing squarely on the massed genestealers, killing three of them and pinning the rest of their brood. The Terminators opened fire on the 'stealers leading the charge, killing three more. Now on foot, but as yet undaunted, the Imperial Guard Captain and his grenade team moved forward and sent two shells into the flanks of the Malefactors, hoping to slow them down. The tiny krak grenade detonated inside the soft folds of skin on the Malefactors slimy foot, stunning it for a brief moment.

the assassin tackles an equally important-- but less suicidal-- target the inquisitor prepares to show the boys what he's made of...

The Eversor moved up to do what he does best-- SLAY in the name of the Emperor. The Biovores did not survive his assault. The Inquisitor fearlessly moved up to do what he does best as well-- DIE in the name of the Emperor. A single huge claw came crashing down on him, but his Rosarius flashed with Holy brilliance and turned aside the blow. The Inquisitor's bionic leg buckled under the force, and from his kneeling position the Inquisitor pounded his fist two, three, FOUR times into the belly of the Carnifex. Apparently luck was fickle, for the Carnifex also managed to escape unharmed.

TURN TWO- Tyranids: The two Hive Tyrants were unfazed by searchlights, and ready to fire their Venom Cannons. The first fired down the line at the Exterminator, shaking it once again. The second Tyrant turned back to the northwest and fired at the Iron Chimera-- but, true to her name, she held firm against the crystalline shells. The Zoanthropes saw death upon them in the form of the rapidly approaching Eversor, so they turned and sent psychic blasts hurtling his way-- but the inhuman reflexes of the Eversor allowed him to dodge projectiles moving even at the speed of thought.

they can't see the tyrants... but the tyrants see THEM! any of you guys lose a human head? No?

The Gargoyles once again returned to harry the rear ranks, opening fire on the lieutenant and his crew. When the fleshborers finally cooled down, there wasn't a trace left of them...

gargoyles swoop into the rear (again)... and obliterate the lieutenant without a trace

A single hormagaunt bounded off to engage the Assassin while the remainder hurtled into the Praetorians at the head of the column. The assassin quickly dispatched his foe, while the Inquisitor managed not only to live through the onslaught of the Carnifex, but to wound it as well! The guardsmen lost two of their men to the hormagaunts, but were inspired by the presence of the Inquisitor and their morale held firm.

the assassin and inquisitor at work-- and the guard behind them buried under hormagaunts

One of the malefactors moved up to give "birth" to a nasty brood of Genestealers. The malefactors fired its spore cysts to support their assault, killing two marines. The 'stealers themselves did not fare so well, hindered as they were by the fortifications. The marines, with their commander fighting beside them, killed two genestealers but saw two of their own go down under the rapidly-growing horde.

<chhkk> Stealers in the compound! REPEAT: Stealers in the comp... aiieeeee!
