Orks vs Imperial Guard
Meatgrinder

"You sure you wanna do dis, boss? I mean, da last time you rumbled wit dem humies, you got whipped good. Lucky fer you I got plenty of spare parts from da boyz who didn't make it out." The Dok put a couple more twists on Bugsnak's bionik eye for good measure.
The Warboss' eye whirred and focused balefully on the dok. "Yer, I'm sure. You saw all dem tanks, right? We need fuel an' we need gubbinz. Dis Waaagh is still rollin' and if da green beakies didn't stop us  dese weedy humies sure ain't gonna stop us. Besides, we got some extra firepower now..."
The Mekboy in the corner looked up from his work and lifted his visor. "Har! Gargant! Gaaaargant! Almost ready, almost ready..." He flipped his visor down again and fired up his burna.
The dok couldn't exactly make out what the mek was working on. If it wasn't quite so enormously phallic it might almost be a kannon of some sort...
"Hmph. So I'm ridin' wit you an' the Nobz today, right? You gonna want me close, boss."
"Nah. Gonna need a power field in the trukk, an' there ain't room fer me an' da ladz an' you an' the Mek."
The Mek looked up again. "Oi! I'm ridin' in the Gargant! I just got it fixed!"
"Nah. In da trukk. You got plenty of grotz to run dat wreck. Grab a couple to hump yer field and meet at da trukk. Da dok can ride in da Gargant an' make sure yer grotz point da' shooty bitz in da right direction."
    "Yer." The dok hurried off.
"An' take a mob o' tankbustas in dere fer good measure!"
Bugsnak rubbed his chin-- carefully-- with his power klaw. "Ain't right fer a dok to pull duty herdin' grotz and not say nuffin' about it..."

Ben and Carl (god-slayer and pond scum-- in no particular order): Calling up a temporary truce, Ben and Carl took control of the Orks, with an army list put together by Andy-- who unfortunately couldn't show for the actual battle (some nonsense about marriage or something). The plan, with typical Ork subtlety, was to have as many Trukk Boyz as possible and just swarm over the Imperial position. Ben made a last minute substitution of a bike squad instead, to try out his "super-bike-rokkit-Nob" theory.Otherwise, we kept to the plan, with as many vehicles as we could buy.

Brian and Jeremy (The Roark's Rift Rejects): Ben and I had discussed tactics before the game and decided that the best approach would be to separate into 2 or 3 different parts in order to force the Orks into a wider front. If we did this then essentially all we would have to do was win 1out of 3. There were two problems with this. First I felt that the terrain did not give us the fields of fire to do this appropriately. The second was that the size of the battle precluded this, since our force stretched across most of the table. In my opinion the only way the IG infantry can sustain an assault is to defend in depth in order to shoot the hell out of any units that sweep through to the next line. To this end I felt good about our position on the hill. I knew that he had some ordinance weapons but felt that he would be forced to shoot them at the tanks.

Deployment: The Orks deployed in two main groups: Battlewagon, Bikes, and Gargant on one end; Warboss, Retinue, and Trukk Boyz on the other end. The Orks had some "throwaway" units they left in the center of the table-- Flash Gitz and Burna Boyz-- that were not part of the "blitzkrieg" strategy, but could still serve to harass and distract the enemy.

The Warboss with two squads of trukk boyz; Kommandos in advance position; bikes and battlewagon.

The guard deployment was a bit of a surprise, very tightly packed considering that they would soon be facing the Ordnance 2 Blast of the Ork Gargant's Stompacannon. The Stompacannon was not "true" Ordnance by Guard terms-- only S8-- but it would be more than enough to mulch foot troops if it turned on them. Like most poor footsloggers of the 41st millennium, the Praetorians no doubt hoped that the the Baneblade and the Gargant would lock horns, "titan to titan", oblivious to the ant-like foot troops nearby.
