TURN
ONE- Tyranids: The
Tyranids instinctively knew that the only weapons that
could hurt the armored column were their Venom Cannons.
The Tyrant and the Warriors started down the center of
the valley, sending crystalline missiles caroming towards
the Basilisk. The Tyrant's first shot destroyed the
dangerous big gun, and a Warrior finished up the job and
destroyed the tank entirely. Meanwhile, the Carnifex and two groups of Genestealers started creeping around the first hill. The Tyrant knew that they would likely never see battle, and could not afford to risk them out in the open. The Hormaguants were actually straggling behind the Tyrant and the Warriors, but were still close enough to form an effective screen. TURN ONE- Imperial Guard: In a move that completely bewildered the ancient Hive Mind, two of the human machines came rolling out to meet them! The Tyrant recognized the silhouette of those machines, and knew that they could withstand more punishment than her whole force was prepared to deal. The Russes drove right over a floating spore mine, then fired their chaff to further baffle the attack. The Amored Fist squad, veterans of many battles and accurate beyond belief, sent Autocannon shells raining into the Warrior squads, ripping one Warrior completely apart. |

TURN TWO- Tyranids: The agonizing advance continued as the Tyrant led her Warrior onto the hill to hide behind the bulk of the human tanks. The combined fire of the Venom Cannons stunned the Iron Chimera and one of the Leman Russ tanks. The Tyrant scanned the skies but could see no sign of the Gargoyles, which she had counted on to destroy the mortar teams.

TURN TWO- Imperial Guard: The Mortar teams sent their shells flying accurately into the hormagaunt brood, killing two of them. As the brood milled about, the Iron Chimera let loose with its multilaser and heavy bolter, killing three more. The Guardsmen realized that even such heavy casualties could not break their morale, so close to the Hive Tyrant, so the Armored Fist squad once again fired their autocannon into the Tyranid Warriors, wounding one but failing to stop the advance. Seeing their sister tank stunned by the previous shots of the Venom Cannons, the other Leman Russ fired up the plasma cannons, but could not seem to find their mark as the bugs crouched and capered towards them.
